Two drivers escaped with just bruises and stitches after a head-on collision on Highway 200 on Monday night.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Garret Van Hoose says a 19-year-old man from Havre had two passengers and two dogs in his car when he lost control on a curve, driving right into oncoming traffic.

His car hit a truck driven by a 27-year-old Potomac woman; the woman was already driving slowly due to the slick roads.

Van Hoose says the woman slowed down before the car hit her, so both vehicles stayed right in place when they hit, minimizing damage and injury.

No one had been drinking, but he says the car was going too fast for road conditions.

Van Hoose says the woman probably could have avoided stitches if she had been wearing her her seat belt.
