Several candidates to become the next Attorney General of Montana have outlined some of their plans.

Candidate Pam Bucy (D) says if she's elected she will protect Montana's kids from internet crimes.

Bucy says she will create a program called eSmart Kids. It's an initiative which educates middle school kids about the dangers of the internet.

Bucy says it's not about isolating children from technology its about empowering them with knowledge to use it wisely. The eSmart kids initiative would use law enforcement officers to teach the kids how to be safe.

"It talks about how your private information gets out there and how predators are able to connect up your private information, if you're posting on different sites, how they can connect up your private information and figure out exactly who you are and where you are," Bucy says.

Bucy is running against Democrat Jesse Laslovich and Republican Jim Shockley.

If elected, Laslovich says one of the things he wants to create is an embezzlement registry. He says currently there is no place for employers to go to see if people they are hiring have embezzled money.

Laslovich says the registry would function much like the prescription drug registry or the sex offender registry.

Montana State Senator Jim Shockley (R) says he doesn't have plans to create any new initiative or program.

However, he says there are several new laws on the books which need to be enforced. He says he is interested in enforcing the new DUI laws and making sure offenders are complying with the new 24/7 program.
