Energy Transfer Partners announced Monday it will be selling its propane operations including Heritage Propane to AmeriGas.
Senior Vice President of Marketing Stephen Sheffield says it's too early to tell how this could impact the 120 Helena employees. Sheffield says the Helena office is responsible for general accounting and many administrative functions.
He says Energy Transfer is selling because it wants to invest in pipeline operations. Just this week the Wall Street Journal reported Energy Transfer announced it's building a $360 million dollar pipeline from Oklahoma to Texas.
"Heritage Propane has been a part of Helena, has enjoyed being a part of Helena for 20 years. Heritage Propane is a large organization in the country and at this point it's business as usual," Sheffield says.
Sheffield says the $2.9 billion is contingent upon governmental approval.
