Police released few new details Sunday night about a high-speed chase and manhunt that ended with three people being arrested.
At around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Belgrade police received a call that a woman was being robbed in the Albertson's parking lot in Belgrade. The woman reportedly struggled and suffered some injuries.
The suspect and two other people reportedly fled in a red vehicle with Washington plates, prompting a pursuit by the Montana Highway Patrol along Interstate 90 that reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour. At one point the vehicle was reportedly traveling the wrong way into oncoming traffic on I-90 before troopers found it on Cottonwood Road in the Milligan Canyon area.
Two suspects, a male and a juvenile female, were taken into custody, but another adult male got out of the vehicle holding a knife and after dropping the knife, fled the area, according to police. At that time also, it began storming, making it difficult for officials to track the man and get a good description of him.
A manhunt ensued. The man was later arrested with the help of the Montana Highway Patrol helicopter and a Gallatin County Sheriff's Office K-9 team.
As of 9:17 p.m., detectives were working on witness statements and interviewing suspects.
Officers from the Belgrade Police Department, MHP and Gallatin, Jefferson and Broadwater county sheriff's departments worked together on the incident.
There are no other suspects at large in this crime, Belgrade police pointed out in a news release. The three people who were arrested, one juvenile female and two adult males, were all from Washington.
